While both Nashville and Charlotte are southern cities on the rise, both places can be very different. Nashville Climate
If you enjoyed the weather in Nashville, you would be happy to know that the temperature in Charlotte is very similar. Both cities have relatively mild winters with temperatures dropping down to the low 30s and hot, humid summers that see average highs in the high 80s.
Charlotte receives an average of 43 inches of rain and 2 inches of snow each year, which is slightly sunnier but relatively close to what Nashville sees on average.
Schools in Nashville
The city of Charlotte is home to the second-largest school district in North Carolina, with over 150 schools and 140,000 pupils enrolled every year. While the state does spend slightly less per student and their classrooms are a little more, it does have marginally more students who graduate from high school and college.
The city also is home to the University of North Carolina at Charlotte, Central Piedmont Community College, Johnson & Wales University, and the Queens University of Charlotte, so the city has plenty of options for furthering education.
Nashville Transporation
This is where you will really see a difference between the two cities. Nashville's public transportation system is seriously lacking compared to Charlotte. The Nashville MTA only offers buses and a light rail system that runs from downtown Nashville to the suburbs, while Charlotte's CATS bus system covers the entire city and even extends into the surrounding areas. In addition, Charlotte also offers bus service, historical trolleys, and express shuttles.
Nashville Activities
Nashville is known for its music scene, and while Charlotte does have a few music venues, it definitely is not the focus of the city. However, Charlotte does offer a lot of other activities and attractions that are worth checking out. If you're into sports, the city has professional teams in basketball (Charlotte Hornets), football (Carolina Panthers), The Charlotte Motor Speedway, and the NASCAR Hall of Fame, which houses many historical racing vehicles and memorabilia.
Suppose you're more interested in a learning experience and the history of Charlotte. In that case, the Bechtler Museum of Modern Art, the science and technology museum, Discovery Place, the Harvey B. Gantt Center for African-American Arts + Culture, and the Mint Museum are all located in Charlotte.
However, if you want a cool place to take in the arts, the Carolina Actors Studio Theatre, Opera Carolina, the Charlotte Symphony Orchestra, and Charlotte Shakespeare are more your speed.
